Job Purpose

The role is responsible for supporting the Head of Corporate Strategy & Research (CSR) at MPRC in planning, implementing, and monitoring the department’s KPIs, projects, and initiatives, particularly in the following areas:

• Oil & Gas outlook and trends (political, environmental, social, investment, etc.)
• OGSE Sector outlook and trends (issues impacting the industry, such as talent, technology, consolidation, etc., as outlined in the OGSE Blueprint)
• OGSE100 – research, analysis, and publication of reports
• OGSE Sector Development – Industry Best Practice & Guidance and Data Depository
• Energy Transition (Sustainability) – future trends and key insights
• MPRC Research capabilities, products, internal and external databases
• Business Development – business opportunities for growth and expansion

Key responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities

Corporate Research & Analysis

• Identify gaps and strategise the development of MPRC’s intelligence capabilities (e.g., information gathering initiatives and research tools).
• Plan, manage, and develop MPRC’s existing and new research initiatives.
• Lead MPRC’s analytics by analysing available data and reviewing analyses from other team members.
• Oversee research on the market trends of the O&G industry, economic information on countries, technology trends, human capital development, and other related areas.
• Review data-driven analyses and reports/presentations as per requirements.
• Spearhead the analytical model, approach, and framework for business development purposes.

Business Development

• Oversee the strategy and initiatives for the Corporate Strategy & Research (CSR) department that focuses on the expansion of the organisation.
• Spearhead the development of new business development projects, as well as define short-term and long-term plans for the growth of the organisation.
• Establish relationships with internal and external teams (key decision-makers, consultants, etc.) and key networks to obtain useful information on business opportunities and develop presentations for new prospects.
• Drive the development of workshops, labs, forums, and discussions that will lead to the securing of business prospects and the development of strategic partnerships.
• Track and monitor qualified prospects and the status of prospects in the pipeline to grow the business.

Other Supporting Roles

Database

• Oversee data-driven information and insights via timely reports to support MPRC’s decision-making process.

Others

• Assist and deputise for the Head of CSR to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties assigned from time to time by management or the immediate supervisor whenever deemed appropriate.
• Manage the capacity development of analysts and senior analysts in CSR.
